Anguilla – a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea, a British Overseas Territory (a territory of the United Kingdom located outside the UK and governed under UK law).

First permanently settled in 1650. Since December 23, 1825 (separated from Saint Kitts and Nevis). The Anguilla Constitution Order 1976 (effective March 1, 1976) and subsequent amendments have established internal self-government: residents elect a House of Assembly, the executive is headed by a Governor appointed by the Crown on the advice of the UK government, while foreign affairs, defense, and the judiciary remain the responsibility of the United Kingdom.
